Europe has an estimated of 247 million (2006) internet users with its estimated population of 491,018,677 (July 2008 est.) and GDP (purchasing power parity) of $14.45 trillion (2007 est). A report by Sante J. Achille, reveals that European families with children are very active online. The first ever ‘Digital Families’ Report, the latest in the EIAA Mediascope Europe series, reveals interesting insights into the digital lifestyles of Europe’s online families. The research shows that almost three-quarters (73%) of people living with children are logging on to the internet each week, compared with only half (52%) of those without.

New research from the EIAA highlights that 80% of European internet users have bought a product or service online, up 3% since 2006 and double the 2004 figure. In fact, these European online shoppers made 1.3 billion purchases in just a six month period, spending an average of €747 each online. This significant boom in online advertising and marketing allows us to target more potential clients by choosing to advertise online.
